The mission of the youth ministry at Salem Lutheran Church and School is to connect to use to the body of Christ through: worship (word and sacrament), Christian education, fellowship, service, and outreach.

Gatherings and Service Events (Mission Trips)
LCMS National Youth Gatherings and Missouri District Youth Gatherings have been vital to our ministry. We also participate in weeklong St. Louis service events we call “Destination STL” that include such projects as: working at nursing care facilities, food banks, and animal shelters; coordinating and participating in neighborhood prayer walks; as well as cleaning up our own church and school; etc.
Historically, we make one out of town servant event every 3 to 5 years.
- 2017 Camp Restore Baton Rouge-helping flood victims
- 2012 in Joplin, MO – Tornado clean up
- 2008 Camp Restore (New Orleans) Hurricane Katrina Clean Up
- 2003 Camp Luther is WI – Native American Children and Servant Event Project in Indianapolis
We sponsor Kids Against Hunger to make food for starving children in places like Uganda, Honduras, Philippines, etc.
Community Service
We participate in community service by collecting socks year-round to help those experiencing homelessness in the St. Louis area and collecting for food for the Affton Food Bank.
Youth Praise Band
The Youth Praise Band currently practices on Tuesdays. We also have future plans for a Youth Led Worship Service or Contemporary Service.
Fun Activities
We plan float trips, paintball, cosmic bowling, ice-skating, laser tag, snow sledding, down hill on inner tubes, kickball, scavenger hunts, six flags, movie nights, hang out nights, lock-ins 1-2 times a year, as well as special events done to welcome new members in early June.
Fundraising
We participate in a number of fundraising events throughout the school year.
We have a Youth Board which consists of 13 people (seven teenagers and six adults). Youth have a say! The Youth Board makes decisions on the direction of youth ministry.
Together we grow in faith, meet new friends, worship and serve others.
