New Members

New Members at Salem Lutheran
Church and School

Salem has just welcomed eleven new members into our congregation. We are glad they’ve  joined and we look forward to worship and fellowship with them.

Stacey (L), Shannon (R), Hayden (9) and Hudson (4) Cook.

Stacey, Shannon, Hayden and Hudson Cook became members of Salem in August when they were all baptized and when Stacey and Shannon were confirmed.  The Cook’s have been attending services at Salem for more than seven years since Hayden started Preschool.  They made the decision to  become members this summer.

Shannon is a native of Cahokia, Illinois and Stacey grew up in Crystal City.  Shannon served in the Air Force and now works in quality control for the Department of Defense.  Stacey teaches Preschool for St. Louis public schools and holds two masters degree and is currently working on her doctorate in educational leadership at Maryville University.  Hayden has just started fourth grade at Salem School and Hudson is in Preschool.  Both boys are active in sports with Hayden playing baseball and hockey and Hudson playing soccer.

When the Cooks are not working or attending classes they like to getaway to Eminence, Missouri. Shannon likes to hunt and is joined by his sons in fishing.  Stacey likes to read and hike and enjoys the peaceful surroundings.  The Cooks live in Fenton and with their busy lifestyle you can find them attending any of Salem’s three services depending on what they are up to that weekend.

Justin Crutcher

Justin Crutcher became a member of Salem Lutheran Church and School on August 20th as he was confirmed that morning after having completed the “Invited by God” class this summer.  Justin is married to Autumn Crutcher and they have two young children, Noah who will be three in October and Grayson who is five months old.

Justin was born in St. Louis and grew up in the Baptist faith.  When he was young his family moved to the Dallas – Fort Worth area but they moved back to the St. Louis area when he was in grade school.  Justin graduated from Maplewood High School.  He is employed by Lowe’s and his specialty is working in the lumber department. Justin says at some point he wants to get involved with woodworking.  Justin is a devoted father and when asked what he does for fun he said he likes spending time with and hanging out with his family.  Justin’s extended family includes his in-laws Brian and Lisa Eichelberger.  Say hello to Justin and Autumn and their children.  The Crutchers attend the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Ashley Smith

Ashley Smith became a member at Salem on August 20th this year when she was confirmed after taking Salem’s instructional class.  Ashley is married to Brendan Smith and they have a son Corey, age five who attends Kindergarten at Salem, and a daughter Dakota who is one.  Ashley’s father and mother in-law are Salem members Ron and Eileen Smith.

For the past 14 years Ashley has worked as a benefit specialist for the Construction Laborers Union.  She started the job just out of high school, (Notre Dame in South County) and has been there ever since.  When she’s not working at her job Ashley is helping Brendan run their business.  When they aren’t working Ashley plays third base on her coed softball team.  And that’s not all the Smiths do on the diamond either,  Ashley is the “dugout mom” for Corey’s T-ball team.  When the Smiths aren’t on the ball fields they like to camp and have explored numerous camping areas in the region.  Ashley is already active in events at Salem and participated in the expansion campaign for Maddie’s Playground.  She says she plans to be even more active in the congregation.  Say hello to Ashley, Brendan and the children when you see them.  They attend the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
